Built in front of the Railway Station
Built in 1874, it was one of the first three large hotels in Sanremo.
One of these was the hotel that at the time was called Hotel de l'Europe et de la Paix and later Hotel Europa e Pace, at the time when everything had to be very Italian.
It was built at the beginning of Corso Imperatrice between 1873 and 1874 to coincide with the start of the railway service, which took place in 1872 and in the picture above we can see its original appearance.
The hotel was then completely renovated in 1905 to a design by architect Filippo Grossi following the construction of the new Municipal Casino in the area in front of the hotel, where the Maria Vittoria gardens once stood.
It has always been a destination for gamblers, unlucky and lucky at roulette, also considering its proximity to the railway station in front of it in the back.
Remarkably renovated over the years it worked uninterruptedly until 1994 when the persistent tourist crisis forced the gate to close.
In recent years, it has been profoundly renovated and refurbished and reopened for a new tourist season.
