It was built in 1875
It stood in the existing building on the corner of Via Matteotti (ex Vitt. Emanuele for a short time Via Impero) and Via Carli where for many years after the war, there was the Perugina shop and today a fashion shop.
It was a very comfortable and busy hotel that combined the Hotel, a large restaurant, the Restaurant du Commerce.
Hence the various names with which, over time, the building was identified: Hotel Central, Hotel del Commercio, Commerce Hotel Central.
When the building had a hotel destination, the Casino Municipale had just been built and Via Carli was still full of greenery and gardens.
The old Hotel Central was one of the many houses that, at the end of the nineteenth century, were built around the railway station, which soon became the busiest gateway to the city.
In 1920 the inheritance of the old Centrale was collected from the building on the corner of Via Roma and Via Carli when Molinari, the owner of the building, left it to move into Piazza della Stazione with the Hotel Sanremo et de la Gare.
The new Hotel Centrale worked as such until the 90s.
Previously it had taken the name Hotel Excelsior Milan.
