Villa in viale Carducci
The building, located in Viale Carducci beyond the intersection with Via Tasso, stands out in particular for the beautiful wrought iron made by the Lombard craftsman Alessandro Mazzucotelli, who was in his field the most important author of Italian Art Nouveau and one of the largest in Europe.
Awarded a gold medal in 1902 at the great exhibition of modern decorative art in Turin, he made numerous trips during which he came into contact with various French, English and Dutch artists, who contributed in a decisive way to the improvement of his artistic technique.
Particularly expert in creating a suggestive harmony with the surrounding architectural elements, Mazzucotelli succeeded here in perfectly combining his artistic wrought iron of the terraces, the gazebo in the park and the entrance from the north side, with the particular simplicity of the villa's forms, also thanks to an elegant stylisation of refined chestnut leaves.
The interiors and the exteriors of the villa were instead cared for by the plasterers Casella and Bagliani, while the original gate and the wrought iron of the canopy are very valuable.
