Ancient Presbyterian Church of Scottish Rite
The church was edfaced around 1884 and remained isolated for some time, before being joined by the Hotel de Paris, which was inaugurated a few years later in 1897, and by the building that was initially a tailor's shop and then, as it grew, became Pensione Azzurra, The Eglish Bank of the Asquasciati brothers until it became Alexandra Café, a place that became fashionable in those years.
This building was later purchased by the Municipality and initially used as a mortuary.
It was demolished in 1935 in the great project of the Guidi Administration for the enlargement of Corso Imperatrice. We remind you that for this project many buildings were demolished and the Riviera Palace Hotel was cut and set back by 4,50 mt.
With the enlargement of Corso Imperatrice, the work of the western area is definitively completed and it is the most important hotel settlement of the community.
To reaffirm the importance of Sanremo as an international health resort, it is enough to remember that the church of Sant'Andrea was one of the 9 non-Catholic centres of worship that the city could boast.
