Priest and Parish Priest
Pasquale Oddo was born in Buggio on 3 June 1906 to Luigi and Caterina Pastor.
In 1917 he entered the seminary in Ventimiglia and on 22 September 1928 he was ordained a priest by the Bishop of Ventimiglia Monsignor Ambrogio Daffra. After an initial period in which he took on the role of deputy director and bursar of the same seminary in 1936 he was appointed parish priest of St. Joseph in Sanremo and canon of the Basilica of San Siro by Bishop Monsignor Agostino Rousset.
He was very committed to Catholic action but above all during the period of the Second World War he distinguished himself for the not only spiritual assistance he provided to his parishioners in particular during the raid on 16 October 1944 and the Allied bombing on 13 February 1945.
On 1st September 1951 he was appointed Provost and vicar of the collegiate church of San Siro in Sanremo. During his pastoral activity he called the Daughters of the Church, entrusting them with daily Eucharistic adoration in the Church of the Immaculate which he restored.
He built the house of the parish works of St. Pius X built on the area of the Oratory of St. Germano equipped with a conference room, a film forum and a games room. He also restored the rectory, the priest's flat, the sacristy and the parish offices.
He promoted a pastoral activity aimed both at the care of the liturgy and initiatives in the various quarters with particular attention to the care of the elderly and the sick.
He resigned as parish priest in 1981 and died in Sanremo in his home in the parish of San Siro on 28 April 1993.
He was buried in the cemetery of Valle Armea in the field reserved for priests.
