Journalist

Giacomo GandolfiOn 9th April 1881 Giacomo Gandolfi was born in Pieve di Teco.

When he was very young, while he was attending high school, he decided to start a journalistic activity collaborating with "il Pensiero di Sanremo".

After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Law in Genoa, where he passed all his exams in four years without graduating.

In 1901 he founded the Sanremo and Ligurian Press Association, of which he became President. The following year in Genoa he promoted the establishment of the Ligurian Journalists' Association.

In 1903 he launched the publication of the weekly magazine "La Riviera", which met with the approval of the public and hoteliers.

In 1905, together with Mr. Conti, he took over the management of the Tipografia Conti e Gandolfo with which he printed numerous periodicals.

In 1909 he founded the weekly magazine "l' Eco di Sanremo" which he published until 1914.

From the fusion of this with "la Riviera", "l'Eco della Riviera" was published for the first time on 19th March 1916, a bi-weekly sheet that was published until the nineties and that would have been the irreplaceable source of information regarding the city chronicle.

From its printing house also came out "La vedetta" and the monthly magazine "Costa Azzurra Agricola Floreale". , organ of the Experimental Station of Floriculture directed by Prof. Mario Calvino.

He died in Pieve di Teco on 8th October 1942.
