Artist, singer
Nicoletta Semeria was born in Sanremo on 16th December 1900 from Giovanni Nuvolone and Maddalena Pastorelli.
Artistically born to Prince Amedeo, she was for many years a theatrical performer first at the Piccolo Teatro Matuziano at the Federazione Operaia Sanremese in via Corradi, where she consolidated her association on stage with Nini Sappia, who would consecrate her popularity, and then with the "Compagnia Stabile Città di Sanremo", which would confirm her great talent.
Since his debut in 1937, he had prominent roles in operetta performances and choirs of famous operas, sang as a soprano and specialized in funny operas such as La serva padrona, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Pasquale and Elisir d'amore.
As a chorister she took part in a tour of operas in Egypt following a professional company in 1951.
In the immediate post-war period he began to dedicate himself to the theatre in language, but his fame with the local public was still linked to dialectal theatre. The Workers' Federation became a sort of second home for her, also because a few years later, right in front of it, she opened a toy shop run together with her husband Nicola Semeria.
Among her famous performances are those of Bigìn Scacastrasse in the comedy "U Ciaravüju" by De Stefani-Jacono, Catin d'a Buriana and Maleta da "l'Estàe de San Martin" by De Stefani, figures that she was able to render with grace and passion to pass on in the history of dialectal theatre.
For her merits in the artistic and theatrical field, the Municipality of Sanremo conferred her the title of "Citizen well-deserving" on 13th October 1975 with the following motivation: "Of high artistic temperament, she has made famous, with her interpretations, the most brilliant figures of the popular Sanremasca tradition".
She died in Sanremo on 25 July 1987.
